IN Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, fans are taken to the Quantum Realm for what appears to be the majority of the film. Although not too much is known about it, one of the film’s writers compares the place to Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Uncreated. Dune movie.
Talking to Empire Magazine, writer Jeff Loveness talked about how the team behind the film came to make the Quantum Realm feel alive. Since fans had only ever seen the place for brief moments before Ant man movie, this was the team’s chance to showcase the “limitless place of creation” that the Quantum Realm is.
“It’s a fun place,” Loveness said. “It’s a limitless place of creation and diversity and alien life. It’s Jodorowsky’s Dune within Marvel.”
Loveness refers to director Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Dune adaptation, which became extremely famous due to Jodorowsky’s failed attempts to adapt Dune novel into a film in 1975. Infamously, the director wanted to cast surrealist artist Salvador Dalí in the film. Things got so out of control that the budget for the film was spent almost exclusively on pre-production, and Jodorowsky’s script would have resulted in a 14-hour film. In the end, the scope and ambitions of the project led to its scrapping.
While it remains to be seen exactly what the comparison between Quantum Realm and Jodorowsky’s Dune are, the trailers for the upcoming third Ant man the film showed a fantastic world filled with extremely psychedelic images.
