James Wan & Jason Blum Discuss Fusion, Sequel to Invisible Man

In a report earlier this year, it was said that producers Jason Blum and James Wan’s production companies were merging. Now the duo has opened up about what the future holds.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Blum — who is the founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions — talked about what motivated him to try to make a deal with the filmmaker, who runs his own production company, Atomic Monster. According to Blum, not missing out on the next James Wan film was a big factor.

“[Not losing out on the next James Wan film] is always a motivating factor for me. I get very nervous every time James makes a scary movie without me. I get very upset,” Blum said.

While Wan and Blum will work together on the upcoming fifth installment in Sneak franchise, Insidious: Fear the Dark, the couple can now also look at what the future may hold if their companies merge. A certain movie that appeared is a sequel to The invisible manwhich Blum hopes Wan will be able to help revive conversations about.

“Hopefully, if our dreams come true and our two companies get to work together, maybe James will help me solve that problem,” Blum said, to which Wan added “I’d be more than happy to.”

Next up for Wan on the directing front is 2023’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As a producer, Wan is involved in a multitude of films, including the fifth Sneak movie, a remake of Salem’s Lotand the sequel to 2018’s The nunall of which are set to be released sometime in 2023.
