The I Wanna Dance With Somebody clip teases an iconic performance

Sony Pictures has released a new I want to dance with someone clip (via Rotten tomatoes) from the upcoming biographical drama centered around the life and music of Whitney Houston. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21 in the US.

The video shows Naomi Ackie’s performance of one of the most iconic moments of Houston’s career: singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. It shows the reaction of the listeners as Houston impresses everyone with her incredible voice.

I want to dance with someonea title derived from one of Houston’s iconic songs, is directed by Kasi Lemmons (Harriet) from a script written by Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody). Ackie is joined by Stanley Tucci, Ashton Sanders, Tamara Tunie, Nafessa Williams and Clarke Peters.

Producers are McCarten, Grammy-winning producer Clive Davis, Pat Houston, and Primary Waves’ Larry Mestel and Denis O’Sullivan, with Stella Meghie (The photograph), who was previously attached to direct, and still served as executive producer.

I want to dance with someone is a co-production of The Whitney Houston Estate and Primary Wave. Due to the blessing of Houston’s estate and Davis, the project has been granted permission to use the late singer’s catalog and vocals. Nicole Brown, Shary Shirazi and Brittany Morrissey will also oversee the project on behalf of TriStar Pictures.
