Alfred Molina ‘Got Into Trouble’ Over Spider-Man: No Way Home Leak

Before Spider-Man: No Way Home release, star Alfred Molina hinted that he would be returning to the world of Spider-Man as Doc Ock. According to Molina, he got a ton of trouble from those behind the scenes.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Molina was once again asked if he would return for a future Spider-Man film. This time, however, Molina jokingly said that his new response is simply to neither confirm nor deny anything.

“I can neither confirm nor deny,” Molina said. “That’s the official line. I got into a bit of trouble during the last iteration because I happened to let the cat out of the bag quite innocently.”

Molina went on to discuss the moment that took place in April 2021 when Molina revealed that he had filmed No way home like his iconic character Doc Ock. It was news to everyone and resulted in fans celebrating his return, while those at Marvel Studios were not happy to see the news leak.

“Just by accident I was talking to a reporter who said, ‘So you know what it’s like Spider Man is the movie going?’ And I said, ‘Oh, great. Thanks.’ So literally the next day, Variety was like, “Alfred Molina reveals that Doc Ock is returning.” And I got in such trouble,” Molina said. “I got a phone call from Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige was on the red carpet somewhere, and somebody asked him about some Marvel movie, and apparently he got a little snarky and turned and said, “Ask Alfred Molina.” So I got in a little bit of warm water. So that’s the official line – I can neither confirm nor deny.”

While Molina’s response likely won’t make fans want his return any less, it seems the actor has learned from his past slip-up and won’t be commenting on future MCU projects in the near future.
