Power Rangers icon Jason David Frank dead at age 49

Fans of Power Rangers and the mixed martial arts community is mourning the passing of Jason David Frank, who famously played the Green and White Ranger.

News was first announced by former fighter Mike Bronzouliswho signed his Facebook page that he was “still in shock” at the news of Frank’s death. “I feel terrible, he called, left me a message and I took it [too] long. Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him.” A few hours later, Frank’s representative confirmed the news TMZ to Power Rangers star had committed suicide.

“Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this terrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful person,” Frank’s rep said. “He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will be truly missed.”

Besides playing Tommy Oliver throughout Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and its spin-offs, Frank was also a decorated martial artist. He had an undefeated mixed martial arts record, having won one professional fight in 2010 and four amateur contests before that.
