The Scream directing team in talks about the Helm Escape From New York Remake

According to Damn disgustingdirectorial team Radio Silence – consisting of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella – are currently in talks to helm 20th Century Studios’ long-in-development Escape from New York replay.

Radio Silence is best known for working with horror films such as Ready or not, V/H/S/94and the latest Scream rate. They recently finished filming Scream 6.

20th Century Studios’ Escape from New York remake has been in development for years now. In 2020, The invisible man director Leigh Whannell signed on to write the project, but it is unclear whether or not Whannell is still attached to the project. Neil Cross (Luther) was originally attached to write the film, with Robert Rodriguez set to direct before both dropped out of the project.

The original 1981 John Carpenter classic was set in a dark future (then 1997) where Manhattan had been turned into a maximum security prison the size of an island. When the President of the United States crashes into the decaying city, an outlaw (played by Kurt Russell) is forced to travel inside to save him.
