Box Office Results: Don’t worry Darling takes the crown over Avatar

Olivia Wilde’s busy drama Don’t worry honey underperformed expectations in its debut weekend at the domestic box office, earning $19.2 million. from 4,113 cinemas (per Deadline). The pic surprisingly dropped -39% on Saturday from its Thursday/Friday price of $9.55M, but still managed to top the weekend.

International Don’t worry honeywhich stars Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Chris Pine and Wilde, earned $10.8 million. from 61 markets to bring its week 1 global haul to $30m.

The big news, however, was James Cameron’s re-release of Avatar, which earned an impressive $30.5M globally – $20.5M internationally and $10M domestically. Sure, Avatar: The Way of Water will be huge when it comes out in December.

Elsewhere on No. 2, The female king stuck to his sophomore frame, earning $11.1M. (-41%) to bring the domestic total to $36.2M.
