True detective‘s upcoming fourth season has found even more of its cast members, who Variety reports that five more actors have joined the highly anticipated next installment.
John Hawkes (Deadwood), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Fiona Shaw (To kill Eve), Finn Bennett (The Nevers), and Anna Lambe (Three Pine Trees) have all joined the upcoming season of the series, according to the report. The five actors will join previously announced stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, who are set to headline True Detective: Night Country.
Hawkes will play Hank Prior, a police officer who harbors an old grudge. Eccleston will play Ted Corsaro, the regional police chief and someone with big political ambitions. Shaw will play Rose Aguineau, “a survivalist with a past full of secrets.” Bennett will play Peter Prior, the protégé of Foster’s character Liz Danvers. Lambe will play Kayle Malee, a young nurse who will appear in the series.
True Detective: Night Country is written by Issa López and Alan Page Arriaga, with López expected to direct several episodes. It will be produced by Foster along with Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski and Mark Ceryak through their Pastel banner.
“As the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men who run the Tsalal Arctic Research Station disappear without a trace,” reads the synopsis. “To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) must confront the darkness within them and dig into the haunting truths buried beneath the eternal ice.”
Additional executive producers include Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, along with Cary Joji Fukunaga and series creator Nic Pizzolatto, who will not be involved in the creative process of the fourth installment.
