While WWE 2K22 and AEW: Fight Forever do for some of the bigger wrestling titles, there are still some wrestling games that are smaller in scope such as WrestleQuest, which was announced earlier this year. Skybound Games released a new trailer for their upcoming retro RPG that highlights the path to becoming a legend in the wrestling world.
The latest video for the game is more of an introduction to its combat than anything else, detailing how players will be able to perform various combos in the ring, build up a meter to hit special gimmicks, and perform tag-team combos to take down. their opponent. Of course, it wouldn’t be a wrestling game without the ability to cut promos, customize your walk-on music and entrance, and also face some of the biggest names in wrestling.
This trailer still doesn’t have that WrestleQuests exact release date, but the title is still set to launch sometime this summer and will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Described by Mega Cat Studios founder James Deighan as “Toy Story with Lord of the Rings storytelling through the lens of the wrestling universe.” WrestleQuest will put players in the shoes of a young wrestling hopeful on his quest to become one of the all-time greats.
The game will feature turn-based combat in the form of a wrestling match and will function like a traditional role-playing game, including letting players upgrade their abilities and find new items to help power them up along the way. WrestleQuest will also feature a star-studded cast, including “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Booker T, Andre the Giant, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Diamond Dallas Pageand Jeff Jarrettall of whom are confirmed wrestling legends thus far.
