Crunchyroll has announced that popular band Radwimps will once again team up with Makoto Shinkai to score the upcoming film Suzume.
Shinkai has previously collaborated with Radwimps for the 2016s Your name and 2019 Weather with you. Composer Kazuma Jinnouchi has previously worked on major franchises such as Ultraman, Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045and RWBY: Ice Queendom.
“Partnering with someone of Kazuma’s caliber, having worked on both movies and video games, has given me an experience I can’t describe in words.” said Yojiro Noda of Radwimps. “It has broadened my horizons.”
“The process of developing a sound that can coexist with the amazing mood and energy of Radwimps was both exciting and nerve-wracking for me, but in the end I think we’ve nailed the landing on one of the answers to, how it might sound,” Jinnouchi added.
It was also revealed that female vocalist Toaka will sing the film’s theme song, aptly titled “Suzume”.
Suzume will debut in Japan on November 11 this year, while it will be distributed through cinemas in all major territories in early 2023. A specific release date has not been announced.
“17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, ‘I’m looking for a door,'” it reads. Suzumesynopsis. “What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of the ruins as if shielded from any disaster.
