The Guncle: Pitch Perfect Director to Helm Comedy-Drama Film

According to DeadlineLionsgate has officially signed up Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore to helm his upcoming film adaptation of Gunclebased on Steven Rowley’s bestselling novel of the same name.

‚ÄúSteven Rowley’s Book Guncle captured my heart immediately,” Moore said in a statement. “It’s hilarious in its observation of the intersection between wanting a family and not being fully equipped yet to run one. I’m thrilled to partner with my friends at Lionsgate once again to bring this story to audiences.”

Guncle will be written by Rowley, who will also serve as executive producer. Producers are Kristin Burr, Rob Weisbach and Jessica Friedman for Burr! Productions. Meanwhile, James Myers and Scott O’Brien will oversee the project for Lionsgate.

“The story follows a reclusive, once famous gay TV star who takes his young niece and nephew into his Palm Springs home after their mother dies suddenly, introducing them to his great life and unique wisdom and bringing healing to all three,” it reads. the synopsis.

Besides the 2012 musical comedy, Moore has only directed two other films so far: the 2015 buddy comedy Sisters with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and the upcoming romantic action film Shoot wedding starring Jennifer Lopez.
