As Warner Bros. Discovery looks set to continue making movies for theaters, Deadline reports that the planned third film in the Magic Mike series, Magic Mike’s Last Danceis now out in theaters on February 10, 2023.
The move comes after reports that the third Magic Mike was originally planned to release strictly on HBO Max. But after Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s belief that movies should be more theatrical events, the company is changing course and releasing the new film in theaters before eventually landing on HBO Max.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is directed by Steven Soderbergh from a script written by Reid Carolin. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. As of right now, Channing Tatum is the only confirmed returning original cast member.
Loosely inspired by Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper, the films previously starred Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Adam Rodriguez and more. The franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of nearly $300 million.
Magic Mike’s Last Dance is produced by Carolyn, Nick Wechsler and Peter Kiernan.
