Disney is coming Haunted Mansion the film will see its release date pushed back five months, with the film now set to premiere on August 11, 2023.
The film’s new date comes amid a slew of changing dates from Disney and sees its premiere pushed back to late summer, with Disney likely hoping to see it get a boost in audience members as a result. The original release date for the film was March 10, 2023.
With Jared Leto, Jamie Lee Curtis, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Tiffany Haddish, LaKeith Stanfield and Hasan Minhaj, Haunted Mansions plot details are currently unknown. However, Stanfield will reportedly play a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Meanwhile, Haddish will portray a psychic hired to communicate with the dead.
Haunted Mansion will be directed by Justin Simien (Dear white people) from a script written by Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation). It will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich (Aladdin) by Rideback. Rideback’s Nick Reynolds will serve as executive producer.
The titular theme park was first adapted into the 2003 film, which starred Eddie Murphy as a workaholic real estate agent who, along with his family, becomes trapped inside a mansion inhabited by ghosts.
