Thunderbolts: Sam Rockwell open to reprise Justin Hammer in MCU

It’s been over a decade since Marvel Cinematic Universe fans last saw Iron Man 2 villain Justin Hammer on screen. Due to his hilarious scenes, the character remains a fan favorite whose fans have been eagerly waiting for his return.

Now in a recent interview with The playlistOscar winner Sam Rockwell was asked about his potential return in the future Thunderbolts movie. He revealed that he’s definitely open to reprising Justin Hammer, especially since the recently announced anti-hero movie sounds like a cool project for him.

“Yeah, definitely,” Rockwell said. “I would be up for it. [Thunderbolts] sounds awesome…[Hammer’s] funny, he’s a real Lex Luthor.”

During Marvel Studios’ recent panel at D23, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige finally revealed the cast for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, which will be a team of mostly supervillains and anti-heroes. It includes Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah Jon-Kamen), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kerleynko), Yelena Belova/Black Widow (Florence Pugh ). ), and The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

The film will be directed by Jake Schreier, whose history as a director is not extremely extensive, having only worked on 2012’s Robot & FrankThe 2015s Paper citiesand 2021 filmed version of Chance the Rapper’s Magnificent Coloring World Tour.

The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase 5.
