Paper Girls canceled on Amazon Prime after first season

It has been announced Paper girlsthe recently released series based on Brian K. Vaughan’s graphic novel, has been canceled after one season.

The first season received generally positive reviews upon release and currently boasts a critics score of 90% and an audience score of 88%. Rotten tomatoes. It appears that the series failed to find a large audience as it failed to crack Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming rankings in the weeks following the series premiere. The first season consisted of eight episodes and starred Sofia Rosinsky, Camryn Jones, Fina Strazza and Riley Lai Nelet.

“In the early hours of the morning after Halloween 1988, four paper girls — Erin, Mac, Tiffany and KJ — are out on their delivery route when they get caught in the crossfire between warring time travelers, changing their lives forever,” reads the synopsis. “Transported into future, these girls must figure out a way to get home to the past, a journey that will bring them face to face with the grown-up versions of themselves. As they come to terms with the fact that their futures are very different from what their 12-year-old self imagined, they are hunted by a militant faction of time travelers known as the Old Watch, who have outlawed time travel so they can stay in power. In order to survive, the girls will have to overcome their differences and learn to trust each other and themselves.”

Paper girls was an Amazon Studios and Legendary Television production in association with Plan B. Executive producers are Vaughan, Chiang, Christopher C. Rogers, Stephany Folsom, Christopher Cantwell and Steven Prinz.
