Showtime’s American Gigolo Premiere Release Date and Time

That American Gigolo the premiere release date is approaching.

The iconic film from 1980 American Gigolo is getting a contemporary reimagining on Showtime. Directed by Paul Schrader, the film helped Richard Gere establish his role as a Hollywood star.

When to see American Gigolo Premiere on Showtime

Showtime tunes American Gigolo premiere release date at 9:00 PM ET/PT Sunday, September 11th. David Hollander directed and wrote the series premiere, which is simply called “Pilot”. The Punisher alum Jon Bernthal portrays Julian Kaye.

“After 15 years in prison, former gigolo Julian Kaye is suddenly acquitted of a wrongful murder conviction and released with no interest in the life he had, no chance at the life he wanted – and no idea who framed him,” reads synopsis for the series premiere.

With Bernthal comes Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire) as Michelle, a character previously portrayed by Lauren Hutton in the original, Rosie O’Donnell (SMILE) as homicide detective Sunday, Lizzie Brocher√© (Falling Water) as sex-work ring heiress Isabelle, Gabriel LaBelle (Dead Shack) as a younger version of Julian named Johnny, Leland Orser (Ray Donovan) as Richard Stratton, a self-made tech billionaire, and guest star Wayne Brady (The Wayne Brady Show) as Lorenzo, Julian’s best friend and mentor.

Hollander originally developed American Gigolo before leaving the project last April following his allegations of misconduct. Original film producer Jerry Bruckheimer is producing alongside Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed. Bernthal also serves as producer. It is a production of Paramount Television Studios.
