The Acolyte: Jodie Turner-Smith joins the Disney+ Star Wars franchise

Therefore Deadline, Queen & Slim actress Jodie Turner-Smith has officially entered final negotiations to join Lucasfilm’s newest Star wars series for Disney+ The acolyte. She joins previously announced lead star Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games). Production is set to begin in late autumn in London.

In addition to the upcoming Disney+ series, Turner-Smith will also next be seen in films such as Noah Baumbach’s dark comedy White noisethe political thriller The independent, and the Netflix mystery comedy sequel Murder Mysteries 2.

The acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and new forces from the dark side that will unfold within the final days of the High Republic era. Further details about its characters have not been revealed yet, but the project title refers to a Sith at the beginning of their training under an experienced Sith Lord.

The Disney+ series will be written and executive produced by Leslye Headland (Russian doll), who will also serve as showrunner. Production is expected to begin in mid-2022.
