Harry Styles ‘Didn’t Spit’ On Co-Star Chris Pine Issues Statement

It’s official: Harry Styles is not a spitter.

Through his representative, Chris Pine has debunked the fan theory that Harry Styles spat on the actor during his debut Don’t worry honey at the Venice Film Festival. Video of the alleged spitting incident, dubbed “Spitgate” by some, has gone viral in the past 24 hours. Through memes and legitimate video breakdowns, the debate has been endless about whether or not Styles spat on his co-star.

Fortunately, we now have a solution as Chris Pine’s rep issued a statement denying the matter.

“This is a ridiculous story – a complete fabrication and the result of a strange online illusion that clearly deceives and allows for foolish speculation,” the representative said. Variety. “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”

Variety also reports that there was “no tension surrounding Styles and Pine during the premiere.” That’s good, since there’s already enough drama surrounding the movie with Olivia Wilde.

Described as a bold, twisted and visually stunning psychological thriller, Don’t worry honey is directed by Wilde from a screenplay written by Katie Silberman, based on a story by Carey Van Dyke, Shane Van Dyke and Silberman. It stars Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (Little Women, Midsummer), Styles (Dunkirk), Gemma Chan (Eternal), KiKi Layne (The old guard), Guy (All the old knives), and Wilde.
