With a number of claims of tension between the pair on the set of Don’t worry honeydirector Olivia Wilde chooses not to say anything about her and Florence Pugh’s relationship.
During the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Wilde was asked about Pugh – who largely did not press the film as he arrived and left shortly after the film’s premiere – but chose not to discuss any of the rumors of tension between the pair.
“Florence is a force,” Wilde said (via Variety). “We are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight [for the red carpet] despite being in production on Dune. I know, as a director, how disturbing it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I am very grateful to her and [Dune director Denis Villeneuve] to help us. And we will celebrate her work tonight. I cannot say how honored I am to have her as our leader. She is fantastic.”
Wilde went on to say that she would not engage in any “endless tabloid gossip” about the couple. “As for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute; I think it’s sufficiently well-fed,” Wilde said.
Rumors of the couple’s tension go back to one initial report from page six in July, who noted that Pugh wasn’t happy to see Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles “all over each other on set,” mostly due to the fact that Wilde was still dating actor Jason Sudeikis at the time. The couple would later end their marriage in November 2020. According to the report, Sudeikis and the couple’s two children would often visit the set of the film in its early production, a move that made people “uncomfortable” at the time.
