Netflix’s Bridgerton Prequel About Queen Charlotte Wraps Production

Director and executive producer Tom Verica stepped in Twitter to confirm that the production on Netflix’s upcoming Bridgerton The prequel spin-off about Queen Charlotte has finally been completed. The limited drama will be led by India Amarteifio, Connie Jenkins-Greig and Arsema Thomas as they portray the respective young versions of Queen Charlotte, Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

The limited series is based on the origin of the historical figure Queen Charlotte. While the series centers on the rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte, it will also focus on Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

“Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift that created the world of Tone, which was inherited by the characters in Bridgerton,” reads the log line.

It has India Amarteifio (Line of Duty) as young Queen Charlotte, newcomer Arsema Thomas as young Agatha Danbury, Corey Mylchreest (Sandman) as young King George, and Game of Thrones vet Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta.

Additional cast includes Sam Clemmett (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher) as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew) as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualties) as the royal physician, Cyril Nri (Cucumber) as Lord Danbury and Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton seasons one and two) as Brimsley (older).

The one without title Bridgerton spin-off is created and written by Shonda Rhimes, who is also set as showrunner. It will feature the return of Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell as they reprise their respective roles as Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton.

The prequel is executive produced by Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Tom Verica, who will also direct the limited drama.
