A disaster film by Roland Emmerich aims to keep HBO Max subscribers glued to their screens.
From Friday, September 9, HBO Max adds Moonset to its available content. Moonset is directed by Emmerich (Independence Day, The day after tomorrow, 2012) from a script he wrote together with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. It is produced by Emmerich and Kloser, with Dennis Wang, James Wang, JP Pettinato, Marco Shepherd, Ute Emmerich, Carsten Lorenz and Stuart Ford serving as executive producers.
Moonset starring Oscar winner Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson (Midway, The art of magic film), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), Michael Peña (Match: Los Angeles), Charlie Plummer (All the money in the world), Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor (On my block), Carolina Bartczak (X-Men: Apocalypse), and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games movie).
“In the film, a mysterious force knocks the Moon out of its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling toward a collision course with life as we know it,” reads the synopsis. “With just weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA director and former astronaut Jo Fowler is convinced she holds the key to saving us all—but only one astronaut from her past, believes Brian Harper and a conspiracy theorist KC Houseman her These unlikely heroes will embark on an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to discover that our moon is not what we think it is. “
