Miles Teller is to direct the action film The Gorge from Scott Derrickson

According to Deadline, Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller has officially signed on to star in Skydance’s upcoming action film titled The gap, which comes from director Scott Derrickson. This marks Teller’s first major leading project since starring in the blockbuster Top Gun sequel, which has already earned a worldwide gross of over 1 billion.

The gap is described as a “high-action, genre-bending love story.” The film will be directed and produced by Derrickson, who also recently had box office success with the horror film The black phone. The script was written and produced by Zach Dean (The war of tomorrow), with Teller also set to executive produce.

Producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger for Skydance along with C. Robert Cargill and Sherryl Clark for Crooked Highway. Adam Kolbrenner and Greg Goodman are also set to produce.

Before Top Gun: MaverickTeller is best known for his roles in films such as Footless, The spectacular now, 21 and over, The awkward moment, The Divergent movies, and Fantastic four. He also received praise for his dramatic turn in Damien Chazelle’s acclaimed drama Whiplash.
