During an interview with ComingSoon In front of Dragon Ball Super: Super Heros release, Goku’s voice, Sean Schemmel, described Goku’s character by comparing the Saiyan to Quagmire from Family guy.
Schemmel was asked about Goku’s ability for forgiveness in relation to bringing Broly to Beerus’ planet in the new movie, but Schemmel said it’s less about forgiveness and more about Goku’s desire to fight.
“Really what it is is that Goku is like Quagmire, but instead of for the ladies, it’s for fighting. So he brings the ladies, as it were, Broly, to the planet because he wants more good fights. So I don’t know if it’s as much about forgiveness and openness as it is “that guy is strong. I want to fight him. Let’s bring him!” And he doesn’t care about … like he brought Cell to King Kai’s planet and they blew up King Kai. So Goku’s… I hate to use this phrase or this word, but I don’t know. We’d say absent versus selfish, you know what I mean? The endgame for Goku is, “Am I fighting a strong one today?” It’s the endgame for Goku. So while I appreciate you giving Goku positive forgiveness and stuff, I have a hard time believing it’s true.”
“The Red Ribbon Army was once destroyed by Son Goku. Individuals who continue its spirit have created the ultimate Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2,” reads the official synopsis. “These two androids call themselves ‘Super Heroes’. They start attacking Piccolo and Gohan… What is the New Red Ribbon Army’s goal? In the face of impending danger, it’s time to wake up, superhero!”
