Davis’ character is called Dr. Volumnia Gaul, whose role is the main player of the 10th annual Hunger Games. She joins other stars such as Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler.

“Dr. Gallien is as cruel as she is creative and as terrifying as she is formidable,” said director Francis Lawrence. “Snow’s skill as a political operator develops in no small part because of his experiences with her as the games most dominant figure.”

“From the beginning, Viola has been our dream Dr. Gallien because of the finely layered intelligence and emotion she brings to each role,” added franchise producer Nina Jacobson. “A brilliant and eccentric strategist, Gaul is instrumental in shaping a young Coriolanus Snow into the man he will become. We are incredibly fortunate to have an actor of Viola’s extraordinary range and presence to play this pivotal role.”

“Years before he would become the tyrannical president of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope of his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a postwar Capitol,” reads the synopsis. “With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, young Snow is troubled when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the tribute girl from impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray gets all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the harvest ceremony, Snow believes he may be able to turn the odds in their favor. Combining their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird and who is a snake.”
