Despite being one of the two main stars in Jurassic World trilogy, Bryce Dallas Howard has recently come out and said she was paid significantly less than her co-star Chris Pratt, even though Pratt helped her negotiate in some aspects.
“The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less,” Howard said in a new interview with Insider. “When I started negotiating for Jurassic, it was 2014 and it was a different world and I was at a huge disadvantage. And unfortunately, you have to sign up for three films, and then your deals are fixed.”
Although Howard earned significantly less in terms of upfront money, the actress said she was helped by Pratt at the negotiating table. According to her, the actor was instrumental in helping Howard fight for more money when it came to supplemental income – money earned from other projects with Jurassic World picture.
“What I will say is that Chris and I have discussed it, and every time there was an opportunity to move the needle on things that weren’t already negotiated, like a game or a trip, he literally said to me: ‘You don’t. I don’t even have to do anything. I’ll do all the negotiating. We’ll get paid the same and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce,'” Howard said. “And I love him so much for doing that. I really do, because I’ve been paid more for that kind of thing than I ever got for the movie.”
The latest film in the series, Jurassic World Dominion, features the return of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith and BD Wong. Joining them is original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Campbell Scott.
