Kevin Feige Reacts to Batgirl Cancellation and Supports Directors

The directors of the recently canceled Batgirl movies has revealed that Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, reached out to them after the unfortunate news broke.

Adil El Arbi posted a story on his Instagram showing an email from Feige to him and co-director Bilall Fallah. In the email, Feige El Arbi wishes congratulations on his upcoming wedding and states that the news regarding Batgirl‘s cancellation was disappointing. Either way, Feige expressed pride in their work and said he looks forward to seeing what’s next for the team.

Feige has worked with El Arbi and Fallah before, of which the duo directed two episodes Ms. Marvel and served as executive producers on the series.

Batgirl was set to play Leslie Grace (In the Heights) as Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon. The hero was first seen in 1967 Batman series with the late Yvonne Craig playing Barbara. Her first cartoon appearance was in Detective Comics #357 by author Gardner Fox and artist Carmine Infantino.
