Cars on the Road Trailer teases Lightning McQueen & Mater’s Road Trip

Disney+ has released the official trailer for Cars on the roadPixar’s upcoming Cars spin-off series, featuring the return of Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy as they reprise their respective roles as best friends Lightning McQueen and Mater. It is scheduled to make its debut on September 8 as part of the Disney+ Day celebration.

“The series is a riot across the country with Lightning McQueen and Mater,” director Steve Purcell said in a statement. “Like any real road trip, every day is a new mini-adventure with unexpected twists and turns.”

That Cars on the road trailer, which you can check out below along with the key art poster, gives us a preview of Lightning McQueen and Mater’s epic road trip, where the racing star accompanies Mater to his sister’s wedding. It teases the various characters they will meet along the way.

The Disney+ series is produced by Marc Sondheimer, with composer Jake Monaco providing the score. The episodes are directed by Steve Purcell (eps 1, 2, 8), Bobby Podesta (eps 5, 6, 9) and Brian Fee (eps 3, 4, 7).
