Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong Sequel begins production in Australia

According to 7News Brisbaneproduction on Legendary’s long-awaited sequel to last year’s Godzilla Vs. King has officially started in Australia. The film is currently expected to hit theaters on March 15, 2024.

Its theatrical release date will pit the sequel against some direct competition. However, it will be released in the same month as two other high-profile projects in the form of A Quiet Place: Day One and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

The upcoming fifth installment of the blockbuster series will once again be directed by Adam Wingard. That Godzilla Vs. King the sequel will be led by Legion star Dan Stevens as he reunites with Wingard after their 2014 thriller The guest.

Further details about the project are still under wraps, but initial reports last year hinted that it would potentially be the title Son of King. The project will again be produced by Eric McLeod.

The 2021 film was directed by Wingard from a script written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein. It starred Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and more. Despite its simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max debut, it went on to gross more than $460 million at the worldwide box office.
