AMC Networks announced that Krysten Ritter would star in and executive produce a new series set in the Orphan Black universe.
The new series, Orphan Black: Echoes, will take “a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence.” The series will follow a group of women as they interact in each other’s lives while also seeking to solve the mystery of their identity in the process.
Ritter will play Lucy, a woman with “an incredible origin story” and someone trying to find their place in the world.
Ritter’s addition to the series marks her return to AMC for the first time since her breakout role as Jane Margolis on the hit TV series Breaking Bad. Since then, Ritter has gone on to star in a variety of shows, most notably the Marvel Netflix series Jessica Jonesas well as HBO’s upcoming series Love and Deathwhere she will play alongside Elizabeth Olsen.
Originally published in 2013, Orphan Black is a Canadian sci-fi thriller series that follows Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany), who was one of several genetically identical clones. The series debuted to rave reviews and quickly developed an intensely loyal fandom across all social media before ending in 2017 after five seasons.
