S’mores in the oven, Air Fryer or microwave

While I love the outdoors more at home or while camping, sometimes the mosquitoes are too fierce or it’s too cold outside. And that’s when you need to know how to make indoor s’mores.

You can make s’mores in the oven, in the air fryer or in the microwave. It is easy and safe, although each method has its own advantages and disadvantages – similar to making baked potatoes in the oven, airfryer or microwave.

S’mores = Graham Crackers + Toasted Marshmallow + Chocolate

While I pretty much always agree store-bought graham crackers when i make s’mores you can use any kind of cookie that you think would make a good cookie sandwich.

Here are some homemade cookie recipes you might want to try:

I also typically use store bought marshmallows, but you could also use the opportunity to learn how to make homemade marshmallows.

Once you know the basic recipe, there are many ways to adapt them peppermint marshmallows, espresso marshmallowsand lemon and rosemary marshmallows.

Store bought marshmallows are great too!

  • Jumbo size – these work best in the oven or air fryer.
  • Classic size – these work well for all methods.
  • Mini size – can work for any method, although it is a little tricky to keep in place.
  • Stuffed puffs – these come with a kind of centre, like milk chocolate. These work well in the oven or air fryer.

You can use any kind of chocolate bar or chocolate candies (eg peanut butter cups) for the indoor s’mores centers.

S’mores in the oven:

On a baking sheet, add as many graham crackers as you plan to use (you can make as many or as few s’mores as you like). Then add the chocolate and marshmallows.

Fry for 1-2 minutes. This will rise quickly! So keep an eye out.

Once the top of the marshmallows are toasted, remove from the oven and add a graham cracker on top.

*Do not use baking paper under a broiler.

S’mores in an Air Fryer:

Add a small piece of parchment paper (optional). Then add one to two graham crackers, or as many as you can fit in yours air fryer basket. Then add the marshmallow.

Air fry at 390°F for 3-4 minutes. When the marshmallow looks toasted, turn off the air fryer. Add the chocolate on top of the toasted marshmallow and return the basket to the (turned off) airfryer for 10+ seconds to melt the chocolate a bit.

Add the last graham cracker on top.

S’mores in the microwave:

Add as many graham crackers as you want to make on a microwave-safe plate. Then top with chocolate and marshmallows.

Microwave for 10-15 seconds. The marshmallows will puff up, but won’t necessarily turn golden brown or toasted like the other methods.

Add the top graham cracker and enjoy.

*Do not use Filled Puff marshmallows as I found the centers tended to ooze or burn in the microwave method. Plain, unfilled marshmallows are best.

My favorite methods are the oven and the deep fryer, as the marshmallows get that toasted exterior (as if they were cooked over a fire). But if you want something super fast, the microwave is the way to go.

If you make indoor s’mores, let us know if you have any tips or tricks! xo. Emma
