What meals have you maxed out on? | Cup of Jo

When I moved to New York 20 years ago…

… I worked two jobs, but they did not pay much, so I pinched my ear. To reduce the cost, I would buy noodles and the cheapest tomato sauce at the bodega. I ate it for dinner almost every night for two years. Today? I can barely look at a plate of spaghetti. I have officially maxed out.

Later, when I was pregnant, I had an evening routine: stretch out on the couch, line up a 30 Rock repeat and eat a handful of Trader Joe’s dark chocolate almonds. I wanted them! But these days, they just remind me to feel sore and sleepy and have (very) swollen feet.

Our associate editor Jannelle has a hatred / love affair with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. “My mom used to pack them in my lunch all the time in elementary school. They were always on super wheat bread because she tried to be healthy, but it was so dry. I remember I suffocated and breathed water. They tasted of sandpaper. , and I thought, ‘Mom, why ???’ “Today, Jannelle has to be in a great mood to eat one.” I have to make it with soft, white bread, “she says.” And get a big glass of milk. “

On that note, this video made me laugh:
