Both Harry and William have released their own statements detailing how much their relationship with their grandmother meant to them.
Harry wrote in his“Grandma, while this final farewell brings us great sadness, I am eternally grateful for all our first encounters – from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my beloved wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren. I cherish these times I shared with you and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not only by us, but by the entire world.”
William also touched on her importance in his remarks, saying: “She was by my side in my happiest moments,” he said. “And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grandma will really feel real. I thank her for the kindness, she showed my family and me.”
