‘Limitless’ star Chris Hemsworth’s watch collection is also limitless

Welcome to Watches of the weekwhere we will track down the rarest, wildest and most coveted watches seen on celebrities.

We’re used to talking about Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Marvel’s indestructible god of thunder, but he’s promoting a new type of project this week. His new show Boundlesssee him open up about a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’sdefy – and confront – death and discover ways to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.

At a showing for Boundless, Hemsworth paired a popped collar coat with a sparkling version of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The Royal Oak is the big birthday boy in the watch world this year – it just turned 50 – so AP has rolled out one special edition after another. But it’s hard to argue with Hemsworth’s decision to go with a classic version. Hemsworth’s Royal Oak comes in pink gold with a chronograph and subdials made of even more pink gold.

This isn’t Hemsworth’s first brush with watch greatness, either. Earlier this year he wore what we described as the “thin but powerful” Bulgari Octo Finissimoand he was also spotted with one of my favorite new releases of 2022: the Rolex Day-Date made of a platinum that is heavier than any other Mjölniris made of. What his watches have in common is that they are all new takes on old favourites. That description also somewhat fits Hemsworth: a hunky action star with godly abs transformed for the modern age.

Odell Beckham Jr.’s Rolex GMT-Master II

Reports specified it shouldn’t be much longer before Beckham is back on the field—potentially while wearing a watch. (Odell, if you’re reading this, please get back to the New York Football Giants.) For now, we won’t settle for much unseemly. The Super Bowl champion sat courtside wearing the very beautiful rose gold “Root Beer” GMT with a black and brown dial.

2 Chainz’s Rolex GMT-Master II

GMT comes in many different styles, including 2 Chainz’s you-could-see-it-from-space Pepsi. To recreate the watch’s beloved red-and-blue bezel, Rolex used 18 sapphires and 18 rubies. Even the dial is adorned with diamonds that, if you really want to stretch this soda metaphor, are effervescent like a new generation freshly poured beverage. Call this oneCrystal Pepsi.”

Pete Wentz’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

The iconic Royal Oak is the perfect choice when: you are more than you bargained for, going down, going down in an earlier round, when you are number one with a ball, and when you are present at 2022 GQ Men of the Year Party.

Glen Powell’s Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Moonshine Gold

You uneducated pig: I love Glen Powell’s gold watch.

Me, a beautiful genius: I love Glen Powell’s Speedmaster, the first watch on the moon, made from Omega’s proprietary 18K yellow gold alloy, designed to resemble the cheesy shine of moonlight against a jet-black night sky.
