Fashion week gifts potential trends for the coming season, but it also keeps us firmly rooted in the present moment via street style snapshots. What people wear as they jump from one show to the next is often just as inspiring as anything else you’ll see walking down the runway—if not more so.

After several seasons of models with only digital or hybrid presentation due to the pandemic, New York Fashion Week returned in full force with a packed schedule of personal shows and events. Running from Sept. 9-14, Fashion Week brought together fashion enthusiasts from around the world, all looking towards Spring 2023. They stepped out in a range of sartorial statements, from voluminous, exaggerated sleeves on mini dresses for lively rainbow knits complemented by neon accessories.

Other notable street style trends include saturated colors and prints, leather shorts and pants, and simple black sunglasses. On the footwear front, showgoers continued to favor comfortable options over sky-high heels, with leather loafers, Birkenstocks and open flip-flops making frequent appearances on the streets of New York City. Still, kitten heels remained a go-to for those looking to strike a balance between fashion and function.

Outerwear favorites were primarily bold, boxy blazers and deconstructed denim jackets. And some of the best handbag brands seen on style stars? CoachFendi and Phone fatherjust to name a few.

In this season six POPSUGAR editors attended NYFW shows and events with many fall-ready trends. Keep reading for a full rundown of what the editors wore, and shop the exact items or similar options to refresh your own wardrobe.
