Prince Harry hasn’t spoken to Prince William and King Charles for ‘a while’

In his 60 minutes interview On Sunday night, Prince Harry revealed that he is not currently on speaking terms with his brother, Prince William, or father, King Charles III, and has not been for some time. The revelation comes as the Duke of Sussex prepares for release his memories Spare parts on January 10, who has already made headlines for including shocking private details about his personal life, the royal family and how the processed Harry’s now wife Meghan Markle.

When journalist Anderson Cooper asked Prince Harry if he still talks to or texts Prince William, Harry replied: “No at the moment. But I’m looking forward to – I’m looking forward to us finding peace.” He added that it has been “a while” since they last spoke.

As for whether he speaks to his father, Harry said, “We’re not – we haven’t spoken in a while. No, not recently.”

Spare parts

Despite experiencing a “full-scale break” from the royals in which he writes Spare partsPrince Harry still believes he and his family can heal. “The ball is very much in their court, but you know, Meghan and I have kept saying that we want to openly apologize for anything we did wrong, but every time we ask that question, no one tells us the details or something,” Harry said. “There needs to be a constructive conversation, one that can happen in private, that won’t be leaked.”

Disclosures in Spare parts made headlines last week, including Harry describes a physical altercation between him and William that took place in 2019. Harry reportedly recalls a confrontation regarding Meghan that escalated to the point that William “knocked me to the floor.” Both in the book and his 60 minutes sitting down, Harry explained that William apologized after the match.

At the end of his interview with Cooper, Harry said that underneath the bad headlines and tabloid drama between him and the royals, they are still a family. Indeed, “without the British press as part of this,” he said, “we’d probably still be quite a dysfunctional family, as many are. But at the heart of it is a family, without a doubt. And I’m really looking forward to get that family element back.”

Although he does not see himself returning as a working member of the royal company, he hopes to repair his relationship with his family members.

“I’m looking forward to having a relationship with my brother,” Harry said. “I look forward to having a relationship with my father and other members of my family.”
