This trend changed my winter outfit rotation, now it’s all I want to wear

Dressing for the cold means breaking out a lot of fun fashion stuff: fur-lined boots, heavy coats and obnoxious oversized scarves, (the list goes on…). But until very recently, skirts were particularly lacking in my winter wardrobe. Yes, stockings and pantyhose exist, but sometimes dealing with runs and hoes leads to more trouble than relief. And frankly, none of them come close to matching the insulating ability of actually wearing pants. Thank goodness the widespread revival of maxi skirts has led me to better options.

Looking back, I never really gave them the credit they deserved – midi skirts have dominated my closet since 2013. Now that I’m firmly on board the floor-length skirt bandwagon (Saint Laurent is largely to blame), my winter outfit is the rotation has changed drastically. My clothes from November to March are not only relegated to trousers and their many forms. Style a long skirt with tights and knee boots and you have triple protection against the cold. The irritation of cold legs during a trip around town is no longer a factor.
