Why we need to pay attention to fabric innovation

One of the most outwardly glamorous industries is quite different internally.

Although it is eternally smart and dreamlike in its own way fashion weeks and runway shows, the industry is one of the most powerful when it comes to effects on us climate. Right now this power is being used for worse.

That 2.5 trillion dollar fashion industry accounts for at least 10% of global CO2 emissions yearly. Beyond carbon emissions is the issue of water consumption: annually, the fashion industry uses at least 93 billion cubic meters of water and produces at least 20% of global wastewater, which comes from dyes and treatments for clothes, according to the World Bank.
