Out of everyone summer essentials, shorts are easily the hardest to style. Really, your options are to go the conservative route with one longer, Bermuda-style pair or choose short shorts, which usually means a choice between athletic shorts and cut-offs. But this week Anne Hathaway took a cue from her The Devil Wears Prada persona and devised another option that effortlessly combined the elegance of a longer shorts with the length of a shorter one. Even better, she paired it with casual sandals and Valentino’s next It bag.
After lunch at Sant Ambroeus, a beloved Milanese restaurant in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, the actress stepped outside to hail a cab, showing off her easy, summery shorts look. Specifically, Hathaway chose a white, slightly ruched button-down shirt with a pair of airy shorts that had slits up both sides. In terms of accessories, she wore oversized tortoiseshell sunglasses by Bvlgari, Dolce & Gabbana flat sandals and a hot pink One Stud Valentino bag that J. Lo only wore straight clothes on her honeymoon.
