It’s official: Alessandro Michele is leaving Gucci

Alessandro Michele is officially stepping down from his role as creative director of Gucci, a position he has held for seven years, although he has been with the brand for a total of 20 years. The brand’s parent company confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon.

“There are times when paths diverge due to the different perspectives that each of us may have. Today ends an extraordinary journey for me, lasting more than twenty years, in a business to which I have tirelessly dedicated all my love and creative passion to, Michele said in a statement shared by Kering and emailed to Instagram. “During this long period, Gucci has been my home, my adopted family. To this extended family, to all the people who have looked after and supported it, I send my deepest thanks, my biggest and deepest embrace. Together with them have wished, dreamed, imagined. Without them, none of what I’ve built would have been possible.”
